"Digital catalog of medieval weapons in the Bulgarian lands"

The main goal of this interdisciplinary project is preparation of an online catalogue in which elements of medieval weapons from the Bulgarian lands and the equipment (armor, shields, helmets and other parts of the military costume) will be presented. The catalogue will also include medieval images of weaponry from artistic monuments - miniatures of manuscripts, church painting, images on monuments of jewelry art and torevtics, in order to present parallels to real archaeological finds where possible.

The digital catalog will be bilingual - in Bulgarian and in English. The search will be carried out both by type of weapon and individual types. A map search will be also provided. By clicking on a corresponding location point information about the item will be displayed: basic data, parallels in Europe and Asia, sources used to describe the weapon or publication from which it was taken image. A bibliographic corpus on the topic of the project will also be prepared.
Technical support for the implementation of this project  will be provided through funding from external sources on a competitive basis.
